Orient Point ride
Sunday 17th May Today we drove out to Orient point to get a 70 mile ride in. It’s a long day with the driving but its good switching it up & riding with some other groups. We had a pretty fortunate outing, winds were light, the sun was shining & by the time we started the back side of the loop we had gained a tailwind. This coming week the temps are supposed to crank up so we will get a taste of summer riding. Thanks to all who have been supporting this venture, the encouragement is greatly appreciated. Joe
The reality of this event
Monday 11th May I would like to share a little update to all the supporters who have been helping me so far. I did a morning ride today of 56 miles with a stop halfway for an egg sandwich and coffee. Pretty standard ride for me as I get rolling during the season. But the reality of the 5 days from Boston to NYC hit home. Day 1 is a 50+ ride followed by 90+ on day2. Day 3 is 70+ followed by 65’s on days 4 & 5. Now I admit to being early in training & the season but thinking of my 56 today & having to go 90+ on the next day just gets you thinking how tough this is. Glad to be offering my physical sacrifice to the sacrifice these brothers & families have made for us. God bless you all, Joe G Share
Blessing of the Bikes
Sunday 3rd May Yesterday, 5/2, was the Blessing of the Bikes at the Cathedral Church of St John the Devine. It’s held every year the day before the 5 boro bike tour. It’s a solemn ceremony that remembers those killed in traffic accidents in the previous year. This year 25 names were read off followed by a moment of silence. A painted white bike, a ghost bike, is rolled up the aisle following the mournful sound of a bagpiper.

Saturday 4th Apr Easter is here , it’s a time of rebirth, Flowers are blooming, more & more people are out walking, riding & just enjoying the change from winter. Looking forward to more rides with the FDNY training group as we prep for September. Thank you to all who have supported my efforts this far. I’ve been sharing stories as I’ve sent out my thank you messages. It’s helped me remember brothers I’ve crossed paths with in my 32 yr career, both from 9/11 & just people who passed way too soon. Tuesday 10th Mar Today, 3/10 was a magnificent day to be out there doing it. The bad weather forced a lot of boring indoor riding but today was a day to be outside, crushing 42 miles in westchester. I’ve completed my first 100 training miles towards my goal, (i dont know how to enter it yet on the site).Grateful For The Support Of My Donors
