Join us in standing strong for our first responders by donating today.

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, I've committed to raising funds as we ride 343 miles to honor the fallen, support the survivors, and stand with the first responders who still fight battles most of us never see, including cancer, trauma, and the toll of years spent serving others.

Please help me support this cause by making a donation through my page and don't forget to send this page to any friends you think might be interested in donating. I can't do this without you!

Ride of Resilience: Training & Recovery Update

Saturday 25th Jul

I’m officially coming up on four weeks post-ablation, and things have been going smoothly! I haven’t experienced any weird beats or palpitations. The first three months following an ablation are known as the blanking period, a time when the heart is healing and it’s common to experience temporary palpitations or strange rhythms. So far, the only thing I’ve noticed are a few mild sensations—definitely no chest pain.

Because I’m still on post-ablation medication that limits my heart rate, I’m not quite back to where I was in May, nor do I have the same strength I had before these heart issues popped up. I tend to get winded a lot easier when trying to put watts into the pedals. To manage this safely, I monitor my pulse and power output very carefully on the bike, making sure I get an optimum workout while using my physical energy efficiently.

Despite the temporary physical limitations, the training miles are stacking up nicely:

Training Goal: I’m sitting around 1,300 to 1,400 miles toward my original 1,500-mile goal.

Next Target: I’m officially bumping my overall training goal up to 1,750 miles!

Fundraising Update

On the fundraising front, I have officially met the required minimum! A huge thank-you to everyone who has donated so far—it is very much appreciated, and I know of at least one more donation coming in soon.

If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, please consider supporting the cause. The funds go directly toward helping Boston and New York firefighters who are actively battling cancer. As a reminder, this journey is called the Ride of Resilience, honoring the 343 firefighters who lost their lives at the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Back-to-Back Saddle Time

Now, the focus shifts to stringing together multi-day long rides to build up endurance and get comfortable with consecutive days in the saddle.

Tomorrow is set to be a 40- to 50-mile day. The plan:

1. Ride from home over toward Washington Boulevard and Fifth Avenue.

2. Meet up with the kids and a chaperone from Operation Better Block.

3. Ride down to enjoy Open Streets Pittsburgh.

4. Head back to the starting point and finish the ride home.

It’s going to be a long day, but the weather forecast looks ideal, and I’m really looking forward to getting out there.

The Final Stretch

We are almost at the one-month countdown before launching the Ride of Resilience, which will be followed immediately by the Pennsylvania EMS Memorial Ride. All told, I’ll be putting in just under 500 miles across eight days of riding.

Thank you all for following along and supporting this mission. Please wish me luck!

It’s Getting Closer!

Tuesday 30th Jun
As the two month mark prior to the ride approaches, it’s getting closer!  What’s getting closer?

1. The ride. I leave Pittsburgh by train on September 3 going to Boston. Just at the two month mark..

2. I’ve just hit 950 miles training out of 1500 so I’m 2/3 of the way there.!

3. Fundraising wise, I did raise my goal to 4250 it’s a stretch but if I can hit 4000 there’s some perks for me. Otherwise I’m really close to the minimum 2250!  Thank all of you for your generous donations. It’s really appreciated. Anything that’s not raised is put on my charge card..

4. In about 36 hours, I will be undergoing PVI and a flutter ablation if successful that will rid me of a fib and a flutter..

5/18/2026 Training

Tuesday 19th May
My longest ride of this year, with over 4k feet of climb!

Thank You Monroeville Fire Department 6 for your very generous support!

Saturday 16th May
Huge thank you to chief Corye Ramsey, and the membership of Monroeville fire department six for supporting my fundraising efforts: I’m really close to being able to concentrate on getting my mileage up knowing that the fundraising is almost to my orginial goal

Training in full swing!

Monday 11th May
Now That the weather has finally started to break in Western Pennsylvania. My training has moved into full swing. I’m getting outside as much as I can to get the mileage on the bike to prepare for this event in September..

I also have some really good news on the fundraising side of it. Let’s see if it materializes.

It’s been a busy week!

Tuesday 14th Apr
A Whirlwind Week of New Beginnings: Family, Cycling, and Resilience 🚴‍♂️
It has been an incredibly busy and rewarding week, filled with milestones that remind me exactly why I am taking on this Ride of Resilience.

The Best News First: Our Family is Growing! 👶💖
Most importantly, I am thrilled to announce the arrival of my new granddaughter! Noa was born last Friday morning, and she is simply perfect. It has been a whirlwind few months for us—we’ve gone from one grandchild to three in just eight weeks! My second grandson, Isaac, arrived in February, and now Noa has joined the family. They are a powerful reminder of the future we are building toward. 🍼🌟

A New Chapter: LCI Certification 🎓🚲
The weekend was intense, to say the least! Immediately following Noa’s birth on Friday morning, I spent the rest of the weekend completing the League of American Bicyclists’ League Cycling Instructor (LCI) program.

I am proud to share that I am now a Certified Cycling Instructor! This is just the beginning of a new journey, and I’m excited to start sharing my passion for safe cycling with others as I begin this next chapter.

Fundraising Milestone: $1,000 and Counting! 📈💰
On the fundraising front, we have officially surpassed the $1,000 mark!

A huge shout-out and thank you to Jason Howard, a fellow ZOLL Data team member and first responder, for his very generous donation. Your support means the world to me. 🙏 We still have a long way to go to reach our goal, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who has donated or is planning to support this cause. 🤝

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Onward! 🚴‍♂️💨
