Wednesday 29th JulThis September, I'm riding in the Livestrong 9/11 Ride for Resilience for one simple reason: gratitude.
Grateful that my family has been spared much of the burden that cancer brings. Grateful that organizations like Livestrong continue to stand beside those who need them most.
I've proudly worn a Livestrong bracelet since the beginning, and this year I've committed $2,500 of my own to the ride. My goal is to raise at least that much again to support Livestrong's mission.
Over five days, I'll ride 343 miles from Boston to New York. That distance was chosen to honor the 343 New York City firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
The ride also takes place in the shadow of 9/11—a day that will always have special meaning in Naperville as we remember our hometown hero, Dan Shanower, and all those we lost.
