On March 15, 2018, when I was 29 years old, 65 days before my wedding, I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. The next day, I was told I would need to undergo fertility preservation as the chemotherapy that I would need to save my life would significantly decrease my chances of being able to naturally have a child. The IVF clinic that I went to introduced me to Livestrong and their "Preserving Fertility for Cancer Patients" program. I applied and immediately found out that I would be granted help from Livestrong to help pay the costs of the drugs needed to undergo the IVF process. In November 2024, my husband and I welcomed our second son, Elliott, thanks to Livestrong and their generous help when we needed it most. I am running for Livestrong again to pay it forward; they provide support for the issues that people navigating cancer face every day, such as my husband and I faced in 2018.
