D Rings It Forward: Protecting the Future
On January 20, 2026, at 30 years old, my life changed when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and learned that I carry a BRCA2 gene mutation. I was faced with decisions I never imagined having to make at this age, including a bilateral mastectomy and chemotherapy.
Before beginning treatment, I also had to think about how cancer could impact my ability to have a family in the future. I made the decision to freeze my eggs, while navigating the emotional and financial realities of fertility preservation.
Livestrong Fertility helped make freezing my eggs possible. Through their fertility preservation program, I received financial assistance and resources that helped significantly reduce the cost of the process before beginning chemotherapy. Their support gave me something incredibly meaningful during a time filled with so much uncertainty: the ability to protect a piece of my future.
I’m raising funds for Livestrong so they can continue helping people facing cancer access fertility preservation and other resources they need. Livestrong helped give me options for a future beyond cancer, and now I have the opportunity to help make sure someone else has those same options.
